The Wokingham Job Support Centre (WJSC) is a local charity and provides free, friendly, and practical support to residents seeking employment, training, or volunteering opportunities. As a Volunteer Support Assistant, you will play a key role in helping the centre run smoothly, raising awareness of our services, and supporting advisors in their work with clients.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, is organised, and wants to make a meaningful difference in the local community.

Key Responsibilities

• Marketing & Social Media — Creating simple Facebook posts, sharing updates, and helping raise awareness of WJSC services and success stories.

• Event Scoping — Identifying local job fairs, careers events, employer open days, and community opportunities that advisors could attend.
• Event Registration — Registering WJSC for relevant job fairs and careers events, ensuring advisors have the information they need.
• Client Follow‑Ups — Making first and second follow‑up contacts, logging responses, and managing any correspondence received.
• Stationery & Materials Ordering — Ordering leaflets, business cards, and essential stationery to keep the centre running smoothly.
• Bracknell Open Learning Centre (TBC) — Assisting advisors with appointment coordination or preparation as needed.Tasks will be rotated within the team so the volunteer gains exposure to a wide range of activities, while initially focusing on the areas listed above.

Skills & Qualities

• Friendly, approachable, and confident communicating with a wide range of people
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail
• Comfortable using email, simple online forms, and social media
• Reliable and able to work independently once trained
• A positive, community‑minded attitude

Time Commitment

We are flexible and want the role to work well for the volunteer.

• Mondays and Thursdays
• Either full sessions (4 hours each) or shorter 2‑hour sessions
• Occasional remote tasks may be possible (e.g., event research or social media drafting)

Support & Training

• Full induction and task‑specific training
• Ongoing support from WJSC advisors
• Opportunities to learn about employability support, community engagement, and event coordination
• A friendly, collaborative team environment
